More about El Dorado Hills Homes

Although people have been settling in the gold rich Sierra Foothills for hundreds of years, El Dorado Hills' modern history didn't really begin until the early 1960's. Developer Alan Lindsey began buying up parcels of ranch land, and in all ended up with nearly 11,000 acres. His original vision was to create El Dorado Hills as a large scale master planned community comprised of individual "villages". Each village was to have it's own parks and shopping centers, while emphasizing open space in between villages and many community parks and recreation areas. The first villages were Park, Ridgeview, Lake Hills Estates, Marina, Crown Village, Governors, Saint Andrews, Franciscan, and Stonegate.

In the 1980's and 1990's much of the area north of Green Valley Rd, which was Lake Hills Estates, was reorganized. It was broken up into Lake Forest Village, which is comprised of the neighborhoods of Waterford, The Summit, Winterhaven, Marina Woods, Green Valley Hills, and Windsor Point. More recent additions to list of villages include Highland Hills, Highland View, Sterlinghire, Fairchild, and probably the most well known, Serrano.

Now, what once started as a relatively small community on the outskirts of Sacramento, El Dorado Hills has grown to a poplulation of over 42,000 people and added a wonderful aray of local busineses, fine dining, and recreation. Even still, it maintains a very definite "small town" feel that makes it always comfortable and casual.

Just 80 miles south of Lake Tahoe, 22 miles east of Sacramento and only 10 minutes away from Folsom Lake, this really is a great place to live.
